COURSE INFORMATION
Esthetics is a branch of the Cosmetology Industry, which is one of the most lucrative industries in the Western world, and it continues to grow. As the demand for esthetic services steadily increases, more positions are created for Licensed Estheticians. Our Esthetics Program provides the necessary theory and practical skills in the pertinent subjects but also focuses on advanced techniques, including the Anti-Aging field.
When you graduate from the Academy you will receive the following diploma/certificates depending on which program you are enrolled in. All of these certificates are included in the tuition fees.

Clinical Esthetics
Intro to Advanced Pedicure, Laser Hair Removal, Intro to Hydradermabrasion and Intro to Advanced Skin Biology. Requires a pass mark of 80%.When a student graduates, they can use their Hydradermabrasion & Laser Hair Removal as two upgrade courses towards their general licensing costs.
Some Certificates require passing both theory and practical testing in order to qualify for Certification.
You are only required to work one night per week, and absolutely no weekends.

Purpose and Goals
- Graduates of the Esthetics Program will acquire the necessary skills and the knowledge to:
- Apply procedures for sanitation and sterilization in the salon.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the histology and physiology of body cells and bone structure, muscle and nerve systems, circulatory and endocrine systems and the skin.
- Recognize various skin types, abnormalities, analyze skin types, and give specialized treatments.
- Apply and perform treatments for resurfacing skin.
- Understand and practice Laser hair removal techniques.
- Cleanse and manipulate the face and neck and use various types of skin care appliances.
- Assess the need for and apply facial masks.
- Properly and safely perform skin peels.
- Study the theory and application of body treatments and wraps.
- Demonstrate an understanding of cosmetic chemistry, such as moisturizing and nourishing creams, skin toners and pH scale.
- Recognize hair structure, causes of superfluous hair, remove superfluous hair by waxing.
- Become introduced to the principles of Aromatherapy and Reflexology.
- Perform various types of massage and apply techniques of manual manipulations.
- Perform manicures and pedicures and recognize the presence of nail disorders and diseases.
- Study the theory and become familiar with the application of artificial nails.
- Apply special occasion make-up.
- Employ the safety precautions necessary when handling electrical equipment.
- Be able to perform complete client consultations and be able to work independently.
- Study the theory of salon management/entrepreneurial practices and retail sales.

Program Details
- The program is 1500 hours. The school week is 36.5 hours with classes on Monday, Tuesday, Friday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm and Wednesday or Thursday 8:30 am to 8:30 pm (allowing for weekends off).
- Tuition is $12,950.00 which includes: a non-refundable registration fee of $200.00, textbooks, Nail Technology book, Laser Manual, Electrolysis manual, Advanced Pedicuring Manual, Professional Esthetics Kit containing necessary equipment and supplies, the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia Student Card Fee plus Provincial Exam fee.
- Upon successful completion of this program you will receive a Diploma in Esthetics - which will qualify you to write the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia Provincial Exam.
Educational Requirments
Prerequisite for this program is Grade 12 or acceptable equivalent (Call for details).
